Brazil’s football legend Pele passed away, scored 1279 goals in his career, made the team World Champion in 17 years

Legendary Brazilian footballer Edison “Edson” Arantes do Nascimento KBE aka Pele has passed away. Pele was suffering from colon cancer, which was being treated for a long time at the Albert Einstein Hospital in São Paulo. Pele, suffering from cancer, had multiple organ failure on 29 December, due to which he died late at night.
 
According to the information, he was admitted to the hospital in the month of November itself for the treatment of respiratory infection and stomach cancer. Pele’s health had been steadily deteriorating since last week. He was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2021. Since then his treatment is going on continuously.
 
For football fans, Pele remains synonymous with football. Pele played a total of four World Cups for Brazil in his career, out of which he made the team champion three times. Pele has been a footballer whose legacy goes well beyond his name. Pele is not limited to just trophies, cabinets, goalscoring records. Pele himself once said that I was born to play football. Just like Beethoven was born to write music and Michelangelo to paint.

The great Pele was born on October 23, 1940 in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Pele’s family was very poor and he used to work as a waiter in a tea shop. Pele was fondly called Dicko, but was named Pele after his local football club’s goalkeeper, Bille. As a child, Pelé played several times as a goalkeeper for his local football club. He also proved to be a great goalkeeper for the team. He was nicknamed Pele while playing.
According to information, Pele started training with FC Santos at the age of 15. Pelé scored his first goal for the club at the age of 16. He then played for Brazil. Pele is still remembered for playing as a forward in the yellow jersey.

Pele had made his presence felt all over the world only when in the year 1958, at the age of just 17, he landed on the field to play his first World Cup. The Brazilian team scored the first goal in the quarterfinal match against Wales. After this, he scored a hat-trick in the semi-final against France and also scored two goals against Sweden in the final match. After this, all the exploits done by Pele were recorded in the history of football. Pele also won the 1962 and 1970 World Cups for Brazil.
