I have met and connected with some of these precious creations of the Almighty and Ramanand Sagar is one of the best witnesses of God for his sovereignty. God gives certain special powers to these special creations and even enables them to work wonders of their lives and perform miracles in the lives of all who come in their lives….
Ramananda may have been a child who would have been born in a royal family to a family of saints and Sufis but, he was born in a lower middle class family in a village in pre-partition La. He had all the obstacles that could keep him away from being educated, but he had that invisible force that guides him that drives him to seek and find the best kind of education in life.
He succumbed to Tuberculosis (TB) even under those circumstances, but he turned adversity to his advantage and wrote a diary from his sick bed titled “Death Beds”. The diary gave him all the recognition and hints at Ramanand Chopra turning into a leading light of the future. This was the time when the struggle for independence (Azadi) was at its peak and the crisis of partition was worse than it could have been. Ramananda chose for India and experienced situations like misery, humiliation and almost death when he entered India and in Ramananda the writer awoke and awakened and he expressed the experience of his own. “Aur Insan Mar Gaya” whose introduction was written by Abbas and the book created a sensation all over the world and was translated into different languages all over the world.
Ramanand and his family in Mumbai, hungry, homeless. He could see, he and his family knew a way out of the situation in which they were caught. One morning, he went to Juhu beach and talked to Sagar (Sea) and told him about his plight and told him that only she (Sagar) could protect them, save them and bring them to a city. can provide space. He was pushing himself and his family with his writing, and another big miracle happened when two of his writer friends asked him to try his luck in films. He worked as an assistant director in an English film. He was also a well-known name in theater circles, but his first big break as a writer in films came when he wrote “Barsaat” for Raj Kapoor. The film was indeed a rain of success not only for Raj Kapoor but also for everyone involved, including the man who is now known as Ramanand Sagar. His reputation spread and he was soon writing some of the most successful Hindi films made in the South, such as Ghunghat, Paigam, Zindagi and others.
Anubhav had given him the courage and confidence to direct his own films and he had directed films like Guest and Bajubandh, but the divine power that was guiding him might have wanted him to stay for a while. Ramanand Sagar knew now that it is here to die for him and his family to live here. He founded Sagar Arts International, his own banner under which he made big films like Arzoo, Aankhen, Lalkar, Charas, Jalte Badan, Geet, Rebellion and others. His banners were by far one of the most respected in the industry.
But the divine power had other, more meaningful plans for working its miracles. He was slowly losing interest in the kind of films that were being made and was looking for ways to channel his talent and by some quirk of chance or call it the call of divine power, he was looking for new TV shows. were attracted to. And made some serials for TV but the purpose for which God made them and brought them to life on 29 December 1917. Divine power was now working in and on him and leading them to the ultimate goal they were made to achieve.
He was a person who was always spiritual and inclined towards the divine. He was a true follower of all that belonged to God in this world of man and material. Over the years he was a part of this world and the world of entertainment. But when the time of great change came for him, he came like a gust of wind from another world and took him away from all the attractions of the world to a world in which there were very few people.
He went into the world of gods and goddesses, saints and sinners, and after many months of introspection and traveling within them, he discovered the truth about himself. He knew that he was a modern Tulsidas who had to recreate the story of Ramayana told thousands of years ago by the original Tulsidas. And once he started working on his dream destination (Ramayana), he stopped being materialistic of this world and was taken to a world for which he was created three hundred years ago.
What started out as an experiment has become one of the most exciting and enlightening explorations of our time. Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana created a spiritual revolution not only in the country of Ramayana, but also in countries around the world, surprisingly even in countries where people do not believe in dharma, dharma. The new Ramayana made for television by Ramanand Sagar created a miracle, Dr. Ramanand Sagar who was destined to perform other miracles, but this was undoubtedly his most incredible miracle.
That the way Dr. Ramanand Sagar used to keep his entire family together under one roof for years, he was born in the world more than that. He was the husband of Lilavati, the women who accompanied him through all the ups and downs till the end, he was the father of five sons and one daughter (Subhas, Shanti, Anand, Prem Srishta). He was the head of a joint family consisting of his sons, daughters of law, grandchildren, granddaughters and great-grandchildren. Dr. Sagar must have done good to lakhs of people and I am fortunate that he was very close to me. He was the first major filmmaker who along with his sons made me feel at home. He was present in all my family functions. I must remember the evening when I was doing a Christian ceremony for my daughter Swati. We were living in an area densely populated by Muslims. There was a fire in Bombay due to Hindu-Muslim riots across the city, but I didn’t want to stop the celebrations and I found Dr. Sagar who was in the eye of a storm because of the Ramayana. Not only did they agree to be present at the ceremony, but hundreds of Muslims and Hindus at the ceremony as well as policemen watched helplessly with guns in their hands, raised a toast. Sagar and Dara Singh (who played the role of Hanuman in Ramayana) walked to their cars and left peacefully. That visit was considered a miracle not only by the people of my area but also by the local police station and the press.
And I will never forget that evening when he called me to his cabin and after talking on various topics said, “Ali, tere paas teen naam hai, ek naam aur laga de, tera kya jayega? Put the ocean in front of John, I will give you whatever you want” I thought it was a joke of his way of thinking at that time. Now, after all these years, I wish I had taken him seriously. After all, what happens to me?

He had just finished talking to Sagar, when a great wave came to him and surrounded him and he felt that his prayers had been answered and was certain that Sagar and Himahim would be protected in Bombay. His name ranged from Ramanand Chopra to Ramanand Sagar, a name that would create history in the Hindi film industry, in TV and in recreating the mythological story of the Ramayana, which many attributed to the great civilization.

It was a routine for me to go to Natraj Studio every Tuesday because I could meet great filmmakers and better people like Dr. Ramanand Sagar, Shakti Samanta, FC Mehra, Atmaram (Guru Dutt’s brother), and Pramod Chakraborty.
I used to walk from Andheri station to Natraj studio and on a special Tuesday I was wearing a silk kurta and after reaching Natraj my kurta was soaked with sweat and my hair was scattered. As I reached the main gate, a watchman who was Nepali and called Bahadur stopped me and asked me, “Aye, where is he?” I knew he was trying to show his authority and I also made an act. I folded hands in front of him and said to him, “Jaane de na yaar, job maang jaana raha hoon, if naukri lagga gayi tumko khush karoonga hoon” Bahadur looked at me with his small eyes, “come to me when you fire me”.
I walked to the offices of the four big filmmakers. And as soon as I reached Sagar Sahib’s office, I saw him walking towards the gate with my son Prem.
And he looked at me and said, “Aaja, baitha jaa, filmalaya studio jake aane hai” and he asked Prem to go to the back seat and asked me to sit with him as he was on the wheel.
Bahadur was waiting for my loser man to come, but when he saw me sitting in the seat next to Sagar Sahib, he ran to save his life and after that incident, and he never asked me any questions. Each time he saluted me until we became friends, but he learned a lesson that clothes and looks don’t make a man.
