Germany’s new direction

There are many progressive steps in the agreement which could not have been imagined in the CDU government. For example, the sale of cannabis (cannabis) for amateur use would be legalized, the voting age would be raised to 16, and the article limiting abortion would be repealed.

Finally a new government has emerged in Germany. There was an election in September last. But due to no party getting majority, talks were going on between the three parties regarding the sharing of power. Now the three parties have prepared the blueprint for the new government. Negotiations were stalled because the coalition is comprised of the environmentalist Green Party on one side, and the Free Democrats (FDP), a supporter of the free market, on the other. It is noteworthy that during the lengthy negotiations, the Green Party coalition finally agreed to the goal of eliminating Germany’s coal industry by 2030. In return, the FDP got the second most powerful post in the government. Party leader Christian Lindner will be the country’s next finance minister. Green Party co-leader Robert Habek will take over the ministry of economy and energy, which will now also include climate. Some other demands of the Green Party are also visible in the agreement. The new government has set a target that by 2030, 80 percent of the country’s energy supply will come from renewable energy sources.

But environmentalist groups are not happy with this goal. He has criticized the Coalition for missing out on concrete steps to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the near future. On the other hand, FDP has also won on many fronts. Germany will again apply the “debt brake” in 2023. That is, the process of prohibiting taking more loans will be implemented. It was removed to deal with the impact of Kovid-19. Apart from this, there is no mention of increasing any kind of tax in the new agreement. However, there is no promise that the tax will not increase going forward. However, there is also evidence to show that the three parties have agreed to take the country out of the conservative influence of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s party, the CDU, which has ruled for the past 16 years. There are many progressive steps in the agreement which could not have been imagined in the CDU government. For example, the sale of cannabis (cannabis) for amateur use would be legalized, voting would be legal from the age of 16, and Article 219-A limiting abortion would be repealed.
