FIFA World Cup: Big blow to France, Lucas Hernandez out of World Cup due to injury
Lucas Hernandez, another member of France’s 2018 World Cup winning team, has been ruled out of the current tournament due to injury and is unlikely to play any further this season. Hernandez, who played a key role in helping France become world champions four years ago, lasted only eight minutes during his team’s opening match against Australia on Tuesday before being forced off with a right knee injury.
In a statement from the French Football Federation, coach Didier Deschamps said, “We have lost an important player.” Lucas is a player who never gives up.” Hernandez appeared to have a twisted right knee, which forced him to leave the field immediately. France made a great start to their campaign by defeating Australia 4-1 in this match.
