FIFA World Cup: France immersed in victory celebration as they reach World Cup final

Paris. As France reached the World Cup final, football frenzy reached its peak across the country and celebrations broke out in every city, while Moroccan supporters who were proud of the team’s historic performance looked disappointed. Football fans thronged the Champs Elysees in Paris, setting off fireworks and waving French flags. The noise of car horns was heard all around. Riot police were seen patrolling across the city.From the boulevards of Paris to the Moroccan capital Rabat, from Nice in France to Marrakesh in Morocco, supporters of both the teams were watching the match in large numbers at public venues.

Morocco was under French rule from 1912 to 1956, giving the match a political and emotional background. It became the first African team to reach the World Cup semi-finals.
