Henderson decides to step down as head of Cricket Australia, Baird to be next president

Melbourne. Lachlan Henderson on Sunday decided to step down as chairman of Cricket Australia (CA). Former New South Wales premier Mike Baird will replace him next year. Henderson said he was unable to devote time to the top job as he had recently taken up the position of CEO of Perth-based health insurance provider HBF.

Henderson told cricket.com.au, “I have recently taken up a new responsibility in my hometown of Perth and as such it is difficult for me to devote proper time to the top job of Cricket Australia, so I have decided to pass this role to someone else.” This is the right time to hand it over.” Henderson took over from interim president Richard Friedenstein in February this year following the resignation of Earl Eddings.

He will be the fourth person to hold the position in less than 18 months. Baird is now 54 years old. He was the Premier of New South Wales from 2014 to 2017. He was associated with the board of Cricket Australia in 2020.
