Government of India approves participation of Pakistan football team in SAFF Cup: AIFF
The Government of India has approved the participation of the Pakistani football team in the SAFF Cup to be held in Bengaluru from June 21 to July 4. All India Football Federation gave this information on Thursday. AIFF general secretary Shaji Prabhakaran said that India has completed its work for Pakistan’s participation in the eight-nation tournament and now Pakistan has to complete the formalities from its side.
Prabhakaran said, “Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of External Affairs and Sports Ministry have approved Pakistan’s participation.” He said, “We have done our job. We welcome them. All the participating countries have got visa approval. Now he has to complete the visa formalities on his behalf.
India and Pakistan are in the same group and will play each other on June 21. Both will play each other for the first time in five years. They last met in the 2018 SAFF Championship semi-finals when India 3. 1 was victorious. Lebanon, Kuwait, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Maldives are also participating in it.
