Ranchi. The command of an iron ore mine in Jharkhand will be entirely in the hands of women. From shovel to drilling and from running dumper to dozer-shovel, the operation of heavy machines will be in the hands of skilled women workers. This initiative has been taken by Tata Steel. In the new year i.e. 2022, preparations have been completed to hand over the Noamundi Iron Ore Mines of West Singhbhum district completely in the hands of women. Such an experiment is being done for the first time in the country.
Tata Steel’s iron ore and queries division general manager A. Of. Bhatnagar told reporters that a 30-member women’s team is being deployed for all the shifts in the Noamundi-based company’s iron ore mines. This task of operating the mine independently in the hands of women was taken by the company under the women empowerment project Tejaswini-2.0 and now the preparations for its successful implementation have been completed.
Let us tell you that Tata Steel is the largest steel producer in the country. In addition to coal, iron ore is used as a raw material in the manufacture of crude steel. For this, Tata Steel has its own mines, from where production is done every day. Tata Steel’s iron ore mines at Noamundi, which is being headed by women, has got a five-star rating.
