Chirag-Satwik on career-best rankings after winning Indonesia Open 2023
New Delhi. The Indian pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, who won the Indonesia Open, achieved a career-best third spot in the latest rankings released by the BWF. The Commonwealth Games gold medalist pair had won the Indonesia Open by defeating defending world champions Aaron Chia and Soh Wooyik of Malaysia in straight games. With this, it became the first Indian pair to win a Super 1000 tournament.
The Indian pair won gold in the Badminton Asia Championship and also won the Swiss Open. In men’s singles, Kidambi Srikanth moved up three places to enter the top 20 (ranked 19th). Lakshya Sen climbed two places to reach the 18th position. HS Prannoy is the best singles ranked Indian player at number nine.
Priyanshu Rajawat climbed four places to reach the 30th position. Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu is ranked 12th and Saina Nehwal is ranked 31st in women’s singles. In women’s doubles, Trisa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand remained static at the 16th spot. In mixed doubles, Rohan Kapoor and Sikki Reddy are ranked 33rd while Tanisha Crasto and Ishaan Bhatnagar are ranked 38th.
