Team India and Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja gave a befitting reply to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on social media on Sunday 9 January after taking a dig at Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 runners-up CSK. During the IPL match, the fielding set for the former India captain was set by Gautam Gambhir on the field. KKR shared a picture of Australia’s aggressive field setting for James Anderson during the final moments of the drawn fourth Ashes Test in Sydney on Sunday, recalling Gambhir’s field placement for MS Dhoni, who was the last in the past. Not a masterstroke but a pretense of a former champion

Terming the field placement as a masterstroke, KKR said that Pat Cummins’ field setting for the England tail-ender reminded them of Gambhir’s strategy against Dhoni from an IPL game. The moment when a classic move in Test cricket actually reminds you of a T20 master stroke, KKR wrote in their social media post! Jadeja replied to the post saying that it was not a masterstroke but a sham of the former champion.

Following the trend, KKR also went back to the 2016 IPL match between KKR and Pune, when Gautam Gambhir laid out the same fielding plan for Super Giants captain MS Dhoni, who was facing bad weather with the bat. And had issues at play throughout his career. Piyush Chawla was bowling to him and there was a fielder around the pad for Dhoni.
