After securing three medals, India got a shock, walkover from World Championship and satisfied with Bronze Medal
Tashkent. Indian boxer Mohammad Hussamuddin had to settle for a bronze medal at the World Championships as he Friday pulled out of the semi-finals due to a knee injury. The 29-year-old Hussamuddin from Nizamabad suffered a knee injury during his quarterfinal match against Bulgaria’s J Diaz Ibanez.
The Boxing Federation of India said in a statement, “Hussamuddin had to give a walkover to his opponent due to injury. He will have to be satisfied with the bronze medal only. He suffered an injury during the quarterfinal match and was advised not to play further. Hussamuddin is playing the World Championship for the first time. He was to play Cuba’s Seidel Horta in the semi-finals.
