Team India is still waiting for the return of Jasprit Bumrah, will he be fully fit for the World Cup?

The return date of Jasprit Bumrah in the national team is one of the most awaited things in Indian cricket. With crucial events like the Asia Cup 2023 and the ODI World Cup in the same year, Bumrah is crucial for the Men in Blue. He has been out of action since September 2022 due to a back injury, for which he underwent surgery earlier this year. There were reports that the 29-year-old is set to make a comeback to the team from the Ireland series. India will tour Ireland for a three-match T20I series starting on 18th August.

 

At the same time, according to a recent report about Jasprit Bumrah, there is no guarantee of this happening. As per the agency’s report, the National Cricket Academy’s sports science and medical team is giving everything they can to prepare Bumrah for the ODI World Cup, but it is not certain that he will be ready for the Ireland series. The National Cricket Academy is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the return of Jasprit Bumrah. However, it seems that good news regarding Jasprit Bumrah may still have to wait. It added that the Ajit Agarkar-led national selection committee is yet to get a green signal from the physios and doctors that Bumrah will be fit for the series.

 

A video is going viral on social media in which Bumrah can be seen bowling in the nets. He is reportedly bowling 8-10 overs during the practice session at NCA. But the source added that Bumrah not being in the Deodhar Trophy means he is still not match-ready. It added, “It also means that, as of now, he is not match-ready, otherwise he would have played a match at Deodhar.” It is to be noted that the NCA physio will submit fitness reports of all the players before selection for the Ireland series. The team is likely to be announced in a few days. “Before the Ireland selection meeting, the NCA physio will update Agarkar & Co with the fitness reports of all the players.
