Bracewell to replace injured Jacques at Royal Challengers Bangalore

New Zealand all-rounder Michael Bracewell will replace injured England batsman Will Jacks in the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) squad for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Jaques was bought by RCB in the players auction in December last year for Rs 3.2 crore. He was injured while fielding during England’s second ODI against Bangladesh in Mirpur earlier this month.

According to a statement from the IPL on Saturday, “RCB has signed Michael Bracewell from New Zealand to replace England batsman Will Jacks in the Tata Indian Premier League 2023.” According to this, “Jacques will not be able to play in the tournament due to injury, he was bought by the franchise for Rs 3.2 crore.” Bracewell, who joined in his place, has scored 113 runs and taken 21 wickets in 16 T20 Internationals. He will join RCB for his ‘base price’ of Rs 1 crore. Bracewell was not bought by any team in the IPL auction whose ‘base price’ was Rs 1 crore. He has not played in IPL.

RCB will start their campaign in the upcoming season against Mumbai Indians on April 2. Meanwhile, Bracewell has been ‘released’ from New Zealand’s white-ball squad for the series against Sri Lanka so that he can join RCB’s preparatory camp. All-rounder Rachin Ravindra will replace him in the team. New Zealand coach Gary Stead said it was an opportunity for both Bracewell and Rachin Ravindra to showcase their skills.
