India vs Australia WTC Final 2023: Bad news for India, Rohit Sharma’s thumb injury before the final!

A day before the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia at The Oval, there has been bad news for the Indian cricket team. According to media reports, captain Rohit Sharma has suffered a minor injury. The right-handed opener had injured his right thumb during an optional practice session on Tuesday. As per reports, the team physio immediately treated Rohit and taped the captain’s thumb. After this Rohit Sharma left the field.

 

Actually Rohit Sharma was practicing on the net when a ball came fast in Rohit’s left hand thumb. After that he left the practice and went inside. After this Rohit Sharma did not come back to the field for practice. But after some time it was reported that Rohit Sharma’s injury was not serious. He will play in the first test match against Australia. His first Test century outside the subcontinent, since his debut in 2013, came against England in 2021 at The Oval, the same venue that will host the WTC final between India and Australia from June 7-11.

 

So far in the final match, Rohit Sharma has not been able to do the feat for which he is also known. Rohit Sharma’s bat has been very silent in the final matches. He played a useful inning in the 2007 World Cup. But since then he could not do much in the finals. In the 2007 T20 World Cup, he played a brilliant inning of 30 runs against Pakistan. Apart from this, in the final match against England in the Champions Trophy in 2013, he was dismissed after scoring 9 runs in 14 balls. In 2014, he scored 29 runs in the T20 World Cup final. In the same Champions Trophy 2017 final against Pakistan, Rohit Sharma scored 30 runs in the first innings against New Zealand. In this, India has managed to win only one final and that is the 2007 T20 World Cup.
