But some records also show that this game was also played in Egypt. Some historians claim that hockey was played 4000 years ago. But its evidence is rarely seen. In the early days, hockey was played in Arab and Greek countries. But with the expansion of British rule, hockey also expanded. It is being played in many countries. Hockey was gaining popularity in the countries where the British used to rule. In India too, hockey was first included in the army.

The Indian hockey team made its Olympic debut in 1928. It is said that when the Indian team for the 1928 Olympic Games was leaving from Mumbai port, only 3 people turned up to see it off. But the Indian team returned from there after winning the gold medal, then thousands of people had welcomed the Indian team. India was placed in Group A of the 1928 Olympic Games, which had teams from Belgium, Denmark, Switzerland and Austria.

During this, the Indian team had played 21 matches in which it had won 18. Dhyanchand was seen by the whole world in this tournament.
