Justice Bhandari appointed as Chief Justice of Madras High Court

Chennai. Justice Munishwar Nath Bhandari took oath as the 51st Chief Justice of the Madras High Court. Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mr. Bhandari. The program took place in the Durbar Hall of the Raj Bhavan. During this, the Governor handed over the appointment letter signed by the President to Mr. Bhandari.

Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, Speaker of the Assembly M. Appavu, Chief Secretary Dr. V. Irayi Anbu, Leader of the Opposition Edappadi K Palaniswami, several state ministers, government officials, judges besides many dignitaries attended the oath ceremony. Justice M. Duraiswami also attended the oath ceremony, taking over as the acting Chief Justice here after Justice Sanjeev Banerjee visited Meghalaya.

Before becoming a judge of the Madras High Court, Justice Bhandari was the second senior-most judge in Allahabad. On November 16, on the recommendation of the Supreme Court Collegium, Justice Sanjiv Banerjee was transferred from the post of Madras High Court to the Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court.
