The All India Tennis Association (AITA), however, told PTI that the match cannot be hosted by the Karnataka Pradesh Lawn Tennis Association. AITA general secretary Anil Dhupar said, “It would have been better for Rohan to play his last match for India in Bengaluru but we have already given the hosting to Uttar Pradesh. The match will be in Lucknow and it is already decided.” Leander Paes has played the maximum 58 matches for India, followed by Jaideep Mukherjee 43, Ramanathan Krishnan 43, Premjit Lal 41, Anand Amritraj 39, Mahesh Bhupathi 35 and Vijay Amritraj has played 32 matches.

Bopanna won 12 singles and 10 doubles matches in 32 matches. Asked whether he would continue to play on the ATP tour, he said, “If I don’t play on tour, no other Indian is going to replace me.” If I don’t play Wimbledon, no other Indian will take my place. In Davis Cup, however, only an Indian will play in my place.
