WTC: India will have to play 19 matches for the next World Test Championship, know the complete schedule

Team India has once again faced defeat in the final of the ICC event. With this, the dream of winning the ICC trophy got longer. Team India was defeated by Australia in the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) at the Oval in London last week. It was India’s fourth defeat in an ICC final since 2014 and second since the WTC began four years ago. Team India also made it to the final of the inaugural edition, but lost to New Zealand in the summit clash played at Southampton.

Meanwhile, the next WTC cycle is set to begin on June 16 with the Ashes between Australia and England. As far as Team India is concerned, they will start their campaign against West Indies next month. Cricket West Indies (CWI) announced the schedule of the series on Monday (June 11), with the two-match Test series starting on July 12. As per the rules laid down by the ICC, each team has to play a total of six series. Teams will play three home and three away matches during this cycle.

India schedule

India will play 3, 5 and 2 Tests against New Zealand, England and Bangladesh respectively at home. On the other hand, apart from West Indies, they will tour South Africa and Australia in this cycle to play 2 and 5 Tests respectively. The team will tour India in January-February next year and Bangladesh and New Zealand in the 2024-25 home season. For away tours, India will tour the West Indies next month, while South Africa’s tour is set to take place between December 2023 and January 2024. They will play their final series of the cycle in Australia and will feature in 5 Tests.
