Disclosure of BCCI chief selector Chetan Sharma, created controversy by giving surprising information in Sourav-Virat captaincy dispute

New Delhi. A video of Chetan Sharma, the chief selector of the Board of Cricket in India (BCCI), is becoming quite viral on social media, which is related to the sting operation of a TV channel. In this video, Chetan is seen disclosing matters related to team selection. The video has created a ruckus ever since it surfaced as Chetan explains that the ruckus behind Virat Kohli’s removal from the captaincy was either the hand of the then BCCI President Sourav Ganguly or a misunderstanding in it.

Significantly, the BCCI recently made Chetan the chairman of the selection committee for the second time. Apart from Chetan, Shivsunder Das, Salil Ankola, Subroto Banerjee and Sreedharan Sarat are four other members of this committee. Earlier, he was dropped after the poor performance of the Indian team in the T20 World Cup played in Australia. In this video, Chetan is seen attacking players like Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah. He has also reportedly disclosed conversations with coach Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli.

accused of injecting
Sharma alleged that despite being 80 to 85 per cent fit, players take injections to make a quick return to competitive cricket. The former India pacer also alleged that there were differences between him and the team management over Bumrah’s return for the T20I series against Australia in September. Bumrah is currently out of the team and is unlikely to feature in the four-Test Border Gavaskar Trophy and subsequent three-ODI series against Australia.

Big statement given regarding the captaincy dispute
Sharma also alleged that there was an ego battle between former captain Virat Kohli and former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly. Reports suggest that the BCCI is looking into the matter as the national selectors are under contract and are not allowed to speak to the media. Please tell that Virat Kohli had given a big statement regarding his removal from the captaincy. On this matter, Virat Kohli had said that in the press conference before the South Africa series, he had been asked to relinquish the captaincy an hour and a half ago.

On this matter, Chetan Sharma said that there were nine people in the selection committee when the captaincy was discussed. Ganguly must have said to think once but Kohli probably did not listen. Due to this misunderstanding, the matter increased a lot and there was a ruckus.

A senior BCCI official said on the condition of confidentiality, “BCCI secretary Jai Shah will decide on Chetan’s future. The question arises whether T20 captain Hardik Pandya or ODI and Test captain Rohit Sharma would want to sit in on the selection meeting with Chetan knowing that he can reveal internal discussions.
