2022 started with tragic accident, stampede in Vaishno Devi temple, 12 pilgrims died

Vaishno Devi Mandir Hadsa Jammu , Twelve pilgrims were killed in a stampede at the country’s famous Vaishno Devi temple in the early hours today. While 13 others were injured. The incident occurred in the early hours of the New Year at the Mata Mandir situated on the hills of Trikuta in Katra town of Reasi district in Jammu and Kashmir.

Police said that there was a huge crowd of pilgrims in the building and suddenly a stampede broke out. According to the police, at least 12 people are reported to have died in the accident and several others have been injured. Relief and rescue work is on.

An administrative official said that due to suspension of trains last week, there was a decline in travel. After the resumption of trains, a large number of pilgrims reached Katra on New Year’s Eve to have darshan of Mata.

On New Year’s Eve, pilgrims ran towards the building to offer prayers at the cave temple and have darshan of Mata Rani, causing panic, he said.

In this regard, Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai has said that due to clashes between some devotees in Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan, there was a stampede due to disturbance of balance and an inquiry has been ordered into the incident.

He said that due to the new year, the rush of visitors to the building had increased and due to clashes between some devotees on the slopes, people kept falling on each other due to loss of balance. He said an inquiry has been ordered into the incident and the Prime Minister himself is in touch and monitoring the situation.

He said that now the situation is returning to normal there and by making arrangements, all the devotees will be allowed to have darshan and no one will be returned. will not be kept.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has also spoken to the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha and inquired about the situation.

It is noteworthy that 12 people have lost their lives and 13 have been injured in Vaishno Devi Mandir Hadsa.

Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor and Shrine Board Chairman Manoj Sinha has condoled the incident of stampede at Vaishno Devi temple. He said, “Extremely saddened to hear about the death of people in the stampede at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Temple. My condolences to the families of the deceased and wish the injured a speedy recovery.”

Sinha also spoke to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and informed him about the incident. Along with this, a high level committee has been ordered to be constituted to investigate the incident. The inquiry committee will be headed by the Principal Secretary (Home) and will have the ADGP, Jammu Divisional Commissioner as a member.

He tweeted, “An ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh each will be given to the next of kin of those who lost their lives in the stampede and Rs 2 lakh to the injured.” The Shrine Board will bear the cost of treatment of the injured.

President expressed grief

The President of the country, Ram Nath Kovind, has also condoled the incident. In his condolence message on Twitter, Kovind said, “It is very sad to learn that devotees have lost their lives in the unfortunate incident of stampede at Mata Vaishno Devi Bhavan. My condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased. I wish all the injured a speedy recovery.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also condoled the accident and announced an assistance of Rs 2 lakh each from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund to the families of the deceased.
