English Premier League: Manchester City’s EPL title confirmed by Arsenal’s defeat

London. Manchester City were set to win their third consecutive title in the English Premier League (EPL) football tournament with a 0-1 defeat to second-placed Arsenal against Nottingham Forest on Saturday. This is City’s ninth EPL title in its 143-year history. City are now eyeing a hat-trick of winning three major titles this season. Arsenal’s defeat has given City an unassailable four-point lead at the top of the table. City have 85 points from 35 matches while Arsenal have 81 points from 37 matches. Taiwo Awoniyi scored the only goal for Nottingham Forest against Arsenal in the 19th minute.

City are due to play the FA Cup final against Manchester United at Wembley Stadium on June 3 and the Champions League final against Inter Milan in Istanbul on June 10. Meanwhile, United are on the verge of returning to the Champions League while Liverpool are almost certain to miss out on qualification for the tournament.
