Hockey World Cup 2023 will be a great start in Cuttack, preparations completed

Its grand debut will be held in Cuttack, Odisha before the Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023. This big hockey tournament will be organized from January 13 to January 29 in Cuttack and Rourkela in Odisha.

 

It is believed that this time the Indian team will perform brilliantly in this tournament. Earlier in the year 2018, the Indian team was out of the semi-finals after losing to the Netherlands in the Men’s Hockey World Cup. At the same time, after this tournament, the Indian team also performed brilliantly in the Tokyo Olympics.

 

R Vineel Krishna, Secretary, Sports and Youth Services, Government of Odisha told ANI, “We are organizing a grand celebration program at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on January 11. On this occasion, we are inviting all the hockey experts, former hockey players also , along with state and national association members, for a National Hockey Conference at Konark, which will be a brainstorming session on how to take forward the momentum of the game that is currently in play.”

 

He informed that the preparations for the tournament are almost complete and the final touches are being given. He also pointed out how keen Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is to involve the community, especially students, in the tournament. He said that this time it has been planned in a more attractive manner in terms of involving everyone in the state and across the country.

 

The CM sent representatives from the cabinet to different CMs and invited them personally. He also wants to involve the students. A lot of competitions are being organized for the students, a trophy tour was done. It is challenging to host the tournament in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela but everything is fine. In the next few weeks, there will be cultural, entertainment and sports events. It is going to be a great and memorable World Cup.
