Argentina fans are everywhere in Qatar

Fans of Argentina, a football-crazy country famous for its legendary players, are reaching Qatar by making great sacrifices to see their country become World Cup winners after 36 years, despite facing continuous economic crisis. The excitement and passion of Argentina fans can be seen in the streets of Doha. They are singing a song called ‘Muchachos’ which has become the unofficial World Cup anthem for these fans of the South American nation. Argentina will face defending champions France in Sunday’s final.

A crowd of locals and tourists gather around a young woman dressed in Argentina’s sky blue and white striped jersey as she kicks a football in a corner of the Souq Waqf market in the Qatari capital. He had a handwritten banner in English and Arabic demanding tickets for the World Cup final at the Lusail Stadium. “Football is everything to me,” said Belen Godoi, a 24-year-old fan. I have come here leaving my family. I have spent all my savings. I’ll be going back to Buenos Aires and I don’t know how I’m going to pay my rent. But the life I have lived, no one can take it away from me.

Godoi has seen almost every Argentina match by buying up tickets that were put up for resale. There are many fans of Argentina who have sold their valuables to reach here. Among them is Cristian Machinelli, 34, who sold his Toyota truck to watch Argentina play in the World Cup. “I sold my truck for this,” Machinelli said. So far I have spent the same amount here and I have enough money to buy a ticket to the final. We are crazy about Argentine football and can go to any length for it.” There is no official data on how many Argentine fans have arrived in Qatar. Football lovers are not only reaching here from home to support Argentina, but their fans living in Europe and America have also reached Qatar.
