Boxing Federation of India (BFI) President Ajay Singh said, “It is an honor for India and BFI to host the prestigious IBA Women’s World Boxing Championship. We are hosting it for the third time but this time the tournament will touch bigger heights. Singh said considering the number of boxers, it would prove to be a bigger tournament than the previous edition. He said, “310 boxers had participated in the last World Championship. We already have over 350 boxers registered at this stage. One week left. I am sure some more countries and boxers will participate in this phase of the championship. ,

Petecio won a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics and became the first boxer for the Philippines to win a medal at the Games. The 2019 world champion will compete in the featherweight (57kg) category. Brazil’s Beatrice Lasmin Ferreira (60kg) and China’s Qian Li (75kg) have also won silver medals at the Tokyo Olympics.
