Supreme Court’s blow to Mamata Banerjee’s party TMC, demand for postponement of Tripura local body elections rejected

New Delhi | Tripura Municipal Elections 2021: The Supreme Court has given a setback to the Trinamool Congress (TMC) of Mamata Banerjee in Tripura. The Supreme Court has refused to accept the demand of the Trinamool Congress to postpone the local body elections in Tripura to be held from November 25. The TMC had filed a petition in the Supreme Court to defer the elections citing political violence. Which was rejected by the Supreme Court.

Know what the Supreme Court said
Tripura Municipal Elections 2021: On the petition of Mamata Banerjee’s party TMC, the Supreme Court said that it is not necessary to postpone the elections. Rather, the security system should be increased during this time. The court has ordered that the DGP, in a meeting with the central forces available in the state, should ensure security during election campaigning, voting and counting. At the same time, advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, who is fighting the case for Tripura, said that before the voting on November 25, suddenly the petition was filed. Whose purpose is only political.

The Supreme Court may have rejected the TMC’s petition, but today TMC has also benefited a lot ahead of the Vidhan Sabha elections. Today Congress veteran Kirti Azad joined Mamta Banerjee’s party TMC. Along with Kirti Azad, former general secretary of Janata Dal (United) Pavan Verma has also joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC). During their Delhi visit, the Trinamool Congress supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee have welcomed both the leaders into the party.
