I will not resign from wrestling federation as a criminal: Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh
Describing the allegations of the wrestlers sitting on strike as politically motivated, Wrestling Federation of India President and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh on Saturday said that resigning is not a big deal for him, but he will not resign as a criminal. The Delhi Police on Friday registered two FIRs in connection with allegations of sexual harassment against Brij Bhushan by women wrestlers. He said, resigning from the post of President of Wrestling Federation of India is not a big deal for me, but I will not resign as a criminal. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday met the wrestlers sitting on a dharna at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar demanding action against Brij Bhushan and expressed support to them and alleged that the central government has bowed down before a muscleman and mafia. He asked, when an FIR has been registered against me, why are the wrestlers sitting on a dharna now? Why is he constantly speaking against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Sports Ministry? This is not a dharna of players, it is a dharna of conspirators. We are an excuse, the target is somewhere above us. Brij Bhushan said, all the demands of women wrestlers have been accepted.
