Shannon Gabriel returns to West Indies team, joins team for ODI series

St. John’s. Fast bowler Shannon Gabriel can play the first ODI for the West Indies after the 2019 World Cup. Gabriel was on Monday named in the West Indies squad for the three-match series against South Africa next month. He is already in South Africa for the two-Test series starting next week. Gabriel will have a chance to cement his place in the team for the ODI World Cup to be held in India later this year.

Pacer Jaden Seals is unavailable after undergoing a knee operation while Anderson Phillip has returned to training after recovering from injury but is not match fit. Obed McCoy is included in the T20 squad but the fast bowler’s playing will depend on the approval of the medical team. The ODI series will be played from March 16 to 21 and the T20 series from March 25 to 28. This will be the first series under new ODI captain Shai Hope and T20 skipper Rovman Powell.
