Tiafoe, Musetti enter quarterfinals of Stuttgart Open

Stuttgart. Third seed Frances Tiafoe defeated Czech Republic’s Jiri Lehka 7-6, 6-4 in the Stuttgart Open tennis last-16 match to set up a quarter-final clash with Lorenzo Musetti. The American player Tiafoe saved a break point in the first set at 4-4 and then won the tiebreaker. He won the match by defending two more points in the second set. The 25-year-old Tiafoe will next face sixth seed Musetti.

Italy’s Musetti defeated Gregoire Barrere 6-3, 6-3 in another match. Former Wimbledon semi-finalist Hubert Hurkacz won 4-6, 7-6, 7-6 despite feeling unwell during his match against qualifier Yusuke Watanuki. Hurkacz will face Christopher O’Connell in the quarterfinals. Australia’s Christopher defeated Lorenzo Sonego 7-6, 6-3 in another match.
