Manu Bhaker wins bronze medal in 25m pistol event at ISSF World Cup

Olympian shooter Manu Bhaker on Saturday won a bronze medal in the 25m pistol event of the ISSF Pistol/Rifle World Cup, taking India’s medal tally to seven, including a gold. Bhaker, a multiple World Cup medalist, shot 290 in the precision round on Friday to enter the rapid round on the second day. In the rapid round on Saturday, she again shot three impressive series of 98, 99 and 97 to post a total of 294 to take her from third place to the ranking round.

Another Indian shooter Isha Singh made it to the ranking round with a total of 581 points (292 in precision) with a total of 581 points (292 in precision) in the rapid round. In the first match of the ranking round, Bhaker scored a total of 14 points to qualify for the medal round as the third qualifier along with Germany’s Doreen Wennekamp (14 points). The Indian shooter won the bronze medal. While it was Bhaker’s first medal at this World Cup, she failed to impress in her favorite air pistol event, finishing 16th on the opening day.
