Ashwin said- Big boundaries in Australia give bowlers a chance to be aggressive

Veteran bowler Ravichandran Ashwin feels shorter boundaries in India’s grounds cause bowlers to take a defensive approach, while the bigger grounds in the upcoming T20 World Cup hosts Australia will have a chance to take an aggressive approach. India will play two warm-up matches in Brisbane before the opening match of the World Cup against Pakistan in Melbourne on 23 October. The team is practicing in Perth before leaving for Brisbane.

Ashwin did not bowl in India’s first warm-up match against West Australia on Monday. He, however, along with a few other teammates, enjoyed the T20 International between Australia and England here on Sunday. The off-spinner said, “We can learn from what happens in T20 and bilateral matches in India. It is said that a lot of runs are being scored against the bowlers but in India the boundary is very close to the 30-yard circle.

Ashwin said after the match against West Australia, “When you come to Australia, the boundaries are huge, it gives the bowlers an opportunity to experiment. Knowing how you want to bowl is also very important. At such an occasion, you can dare to take the risk.” The Indian team has reached here long before this tournament of the International Cricket Council.

Ashwin said, “T20 World Cup is two weeks away and it is an important competition. We are taking it seriously. We came here early to get used to the atmosphere.” He said, “It was important that we get here early and get used to the pace and bounce. Many players are new to the team, so they will have a good time to adapt. Ashwin said that the team will get confidence from this. “You have special memories of a particular place. So you try your best to do well.
