What is Life Certificate?

Jeevan Pramaan is a mandatory document of existence for the pensioners which acts as a proof that he/she is still alive. This has to be submitted to an authorized pension distributor or an agency like a bank or post office, and ensures that the pensioner’s workplace does not continue to pay after his death. The government as well as insurance companies recommend the issuance of this certificate, usually required once a year, before the grant of pension. The person receiving the pension is normally required to appear before the disbursing agency for issuance of life certificate. However, in the event of a pandemic, the Center has come up with Digital Life Certificate (DLC), which is considered sufficient proof for pension disbursement, to avoid the risks of COVID. The DLC launched years ago but has been particularly useful during the pandemic.
