Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat said, farmers should build self-reliant India through natural farming

The Governor of Gujarat, Shri Acharya Devvrat, while addressing the National Workshop on ‘Innovative Agriculture’ organized by the NITI Aayog of India at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, said that just as the country was freed from the slavery of the British with the power of manpower, the same Thus, through the mass movement of natural farming, liberate the country from chemical farming. The Governor said that the Prime Minister of the country, Shri Narendra Modi has taken a vow to double the income of the farmers. This will be possible only when the farmers of the country abandon chemical farming and adopt natural farming with full gusto. Referring to the Prime Minister’s sentence ‘Jab Zamin Jab De De Degi To Kya Karoge’, the Governor said that due to chemical farming, the land is becoming barren, groundwater is going down further. Agricultural expenditure is increasing day by day. People are becoming victims of incurable diseases like cancer, diabetes, heart disease by eating food grains contaminated with chemical fertilizers and insecticides. In such a situation, to get rid of these ill-effects of chemical farming, only natural farming will have to be adopted, which is the need of the hour.

The Governor said that after independence, the need of the hour was to adopt chemical agriculture to meet the food requirements of the country. Agricultural scientists of the country have done commendable work in this direction, but today the whole world is troubled by the ill-effects of chemical farming. According to experts, chemical farming accounts for 24 percent of the problem of global warming. In such a situation, farmers should adopt natural farming by abandoning chemical farming. He also said that it is only through natural farming that a self-reliant farmer, self-reliant farming will lead to the creation of a self-reliant India. Addressing this national level workshop organized by NITI Aayog of India, the Governor said that due to chemical farming, today India is bearing the economic burden of chemical fertilizer subsidy of Rs.1 lakh 60 thousand crore. Foreign exchange worth crores of rupees is being spent on import of chemical fertilizers. In natural farming, the cost behind chemical fertilizers can be saved by using cow dung, cow urine, gram flour, jaggery and soil made from Jivamrit-Dhanjeevamrit.

On this occasion, the Governor clarified the difference between organic farming and natural farming and said that for the supply of 7 kg nitrogen to food grains in organic farming, 300 quintals of manure is required or as an alternative 150 quintals. There is a need for quintals of vermi compost, which is not possible for ordinary farmers. There is no system of mulching in organic farming. Due to this the problem of weeding arises. Not only this, there is a decrease in production for the first three years in organic farming. In front of this, the use of Jeevamrut and Dhanjeevamrit in natural farming does not reduce the production. Not only this, the quality of production obtained by natural farming is also good as compared to chemical farming. The Governor said this while describing the self-experience of natural farming being done in the Gurukul of Kurukshetra. He gave the example of 15 percent profit in agricultural production and reduction in the expenditure on insecticides of about Rs. Explained.

The Governor reiterated the importance of soil cover-mulching in natural farming and said that the land gets protection from high temperature due to the cover. Moisture proof remains. Natural farming can reduce water consumption by up to 50 percent. The organic carbon of the soil is subsistence and the problem of weeding can be avoided. He said that due to chemical farming, insects like friendly organisms are destroyed, which is like the life of agriculture, whereas due to mulching in natural farming, such friendly micro-organisms grow. It increases the organic carbon of the soil and makes the land fertile. To get rid of the ill-effects of chemical farming, he called upon the farmers across the country to adopt natural farming with full enthusiasm by abandoning despair. Like the family doctor, he emphasized on the need of the family farmer.

The Governor talked about the involvement of 2 lakh farmers with natural farming in Himachal Pradesh and in the same way two lakh farmers in Gujarat should also join natural farming. On this occasion, Union Agriculture Minister Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Animal Husbandry Minister Shri Purushottam Rupala, NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Shri Dr. Rajiv Kumar also expressed their views. In the technical session of this workshop, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Shri Yogi Adityanath ji, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Chief Ministers of different states and agriculture experts were also present to present their ideas.
