Dhoni moves high court to take contempt action against IPS officer

Former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has urged the Madras High Court to initiate contempt proceedings against IPS officer G Sampath Kumar and issue summons to him for allegedly making statements against the Supreme Court and some senior lawyers in a match-fixing case. Knocked on the door of the court. The matter has been listed but it could not be heard today.

In 2014, Dhoni had filed a civil suit to restrain the then Inspector General of Police Sampat Kumar from making any statement related to him (Dhoni) in match-fixing and spot-fixing. He had also requested the court to direct the payment of Rs 100 crore as damages. The court had on March 18, 2014 passed an interim order restraining Sampath Kumar from making any statement against Dhoni.

Despite this, Sampath Kumar reportedly filed an affidavit with the Supreme Court making derogatory remarks against the judiciary and the senior advocate representing the state against him in the matter.
