Even after the end of the season, the support staff of Delhi Cricket is waiting for the contract

Delhi’s senior cricket team’s domestic season ended last month but members of the support staff are still awaiting their coaching contracts from the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA). Same is the case with the support staff of the Under-19 and Under-25 teams. The domestic season for the Delhi Under-19 team ended in December last year while the Under-25 team played its last match a week back. When contacted by PTI, however, none of the support staff associated with the different age-group teams agreed to say anything on record.

Abhay Sharma coached the Delhi senior team from October to January without any contract, as did U-25 coach Pankaj Singh, U-19 coach Jaswant Rai and other members of the support staff. A source close to DDCA said that the support staff will be given contracts soon and they will be paid in full. “The contracts will be given soon and the coaches of different age groups will be paid in full. His daily allowances have been paid during the session.

Members of the support staff of the age group confirmed to PTI that they were paid daily allowances on time. “The whole system runs on mutual trust and we know we will get our money eventually,” said a member of the support staff who did not wish to be named. But it would have been better if the contracts were given before the start of the season and not after the end of the season. Travels across the country.

The Delhi team, which won the last Ranji title in 2007-08, has given India cricketers like Virat Kohli, Virender Sehwag and Rishabh Pant. Delhi Cricket, engaged in the exercise of regaining its old prestige, had to face controversy in this season as well. The DDCA disbanded the senior selection committee midway through the Ranji Trophy campaign as players in the squad, especially the fast bowlers, kept getting injured during the Ranji Trophy. The Delhi team failed to make it to the knockouts but the team defeated the formidable Mumbai team for the first time in more than four decades. The team ended their Ranji campaign with a win in their Ranji match against Hyderabad.
