Gujarat Titans will try to dash the hopes of KKR’s comeback

Kolkata. Gujarat Titans, who got their campaign back on track by winning the last two matches on the back of their strong bowling attack, will leave no stone unturned to dent Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) comeback hopes in the Indian Premier League (IPL) here on Saturday. . After losing four consecutive matches, KKR made a comeback by defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the last match. At a time when KKR’s Caribbean stalwarts Andre Russell and Sunil Narine are out of action and regular skipper Shreyas Iyer is injured, they have found a new trump card in Jason Roy.

The England opener had set a strong platform for KKR by scoring an aggressive half-century in the last match, taking advantage of which captain Nitish Rana, Rinku Singh and David Weiss took the team’s score to 201 against RCB. With the win in this match against RCB, KKR has moved up to the seventh position in the 10-team points table but still has a long way to go to ensure a place in the playoffs. KKR currently have only six points and will have to win at least five of the remaining six matches to ensure a place in the playoffs. It will not be easy for KKR to overcome the Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans team which has a strong bowling attack and skilful batsmen.

The Gujarat team is currently in second place with 10 points from seven matches. Gujarat have an experienced fast bowler in Mohammed Shami while Hardik himself is bowling well in the power play. The KKR batsmen, however, will face a tough challenge from both Afghanistan spinners Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmed. Both these spinners are playing an important role in curbing the batsmen of the opposing team in the middle overs. In batting, Gujarat have Shubman Gill at the top of the order who is in excellent form. They have aggressive batsmen like David Miller, Abhinav Manohar and Rahul Tewatia in the lower middle order. KKR have Varun Chakravarthy and Suyash Sharma playing a decent role in the spin department but the experienced Narine has not taken a single wicket in the last 5 matches. KKR are yet to find the right combination in the fast bowling department. Only Umesh Yadav is the only fast bowler who has played in all his matches so far. None of their fast bowlers, including Umesh, have been able to deliver impressive performances so far, which is a matter of concern for KKR.

Teams are as follows:
