Long jumper Shelly Singh won bronze medal in Japan

India’s promising youngster Shaili Singh finished third in the women’s long jump event with an effort of 6.65m at the Seiko Golden Grand Prix here on Sunday. Nineteen-year-old Shelly cleared a distance of 6.65m in her opening attempt at the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold level event, which turned out to be her best effort. It is, however, 11 cm short of his personal best. She was leading by the third round. Maris Lujollo of Germany won the gold with a jump of 6.79m. Australia’s Brooke Bushquel finished second with an effort of 6.77m.
