Former Indian cricket team captain and veteran cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has turned 74 today. Famous Sunil Gavaskar by the name of ‘Little Master’ and ‘Sunny’ has set many great records during his cricket career. Born in the year 1949 in Mumbai, Sunil Gavaskar is such a player who has enhanced the glory of cricket during his career.

He has many wonderful records to his name which he has achieved during his career on the basis of his strong game. Sunil Gavaskar is the first batsman to score 10,000 runs in Test cricket. Sunil Gavaskar came into limelight while playing his debut test match against the West Indies. He has also destroyed many great records in batting. There are many records which even batsmen like Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli have not been able to break even after making them. Between the years 1971 and 1987, he played many brilliant innings, due to which he has come in the line of legends.

Significantly, Sunil Gavaskar was a member of India’s first World Cup winning team in 1983. There was a time during his career when he held the record for scoring most centuries in Test cricket. It is clear from this that how explosive a batsman he was. He has scored more than 10 thousand runs in Test cricket. He ended his career with 45 fifties and 34 centuries. He scored 10,122 runs in Tests.

This record was predicted by many to be impossible to break until Sachin Tendulkar broke the record in 2005. The ‘Little Master’ scored 13 centuries in 27 Tests against the West Indies.
