Lord’s, Oval, Headingley to host India’s Test tour of England in 2025

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) made this announcement on Wednesday. The ECB announced its men’s and women’s team domestic calendars for the seven-year cycle between 2025–2031. India is set to tour England for five Tests in June 2025, according to the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Future Tours Program (FTP) and the matches for the Pataudi Trophy will be held at Lord’s, The Oval (both venues), and the ECB said in a release. in London), Edgbaston (Birmingham), Headingley (Leeds) and Old Trafford (Manchester).

In the 2029 series, Headingley will be replaced by Southampton’s Rose Bowl while the other four venues will remain at Lord’s, The Oval, Edgbaston and Old Trafford. India had lost the final of the World Test Championship against New Zealand two years ago in Southampton itself. “By announcing the schedule for the next seven years, we are also giving venues long-term certainty so they can invest permanently in stadium improvements and a better fan experience,” ECB CEO Richard Gould said. England are the only team against whom England play a five-Test series both at home and abroad.

England’s next tour of India will be in January 2024 for five Test matches which will be played for the Anthony de Mello Trophy. India and England have been playing five matches in a Test series since 2014. The exception to this was England’s 2020–21 tour of India which was reduced by one Test to accommodate a limited-overs series. The series was postponed due to the first wave of the coronavirus pandemic. India last won an away Test series against England in 2007, almost 16 years ago.
