IND vs BAN: Kuldeep Yadav’s dream comeback in Test cricket, breaks Kumble’s record, equals Ashwin

The first match of the two-Test series is being played between India and Bangladesh. By the end of the third day’s play in Chittagong, India had tightened their grip on the match. In this match, with the brilliant bowling of Kuldeep Yadav, India stopped Bangladesh for 150 runs in the first innings. Kuldeep Yadav managed to take five wickets. Actually, Kuldeep Yadav’s return to Test cricket was after 22 months. He played his last Test match in February 2021. However, Kuldeep Yadav has made full use of the opportunity he got from today after a long time. He has also made headlines for his 5 wicket haul. Earlier, Kuldeep Yadav also took 5 wickets in an innings against Australia and West Indies.

Kuldeep Yadav’s bowling figures have been five wickets for 40 runs. This is the best Test performance by an Indian spinner against Bangladesh. Along with this, he also left behind Ravichandran Ashwin and Anil Kumble. He has taken this record against Bangladesh. Earlier this record was in the name of Ravichandran Ashwin who took five wickets for 87 runs in 2015. While Kumble took four wickets for 55 runs in 2004. Talking about the overall performance, this record is in the name of Zaheer Khan who took 7 wickets for 87 runs in 2007. Kuldeep Yadav has so far played eight Test matches for India in which he took 31 wickets.

Gill and Pujara’s centuries
Talented opener Shubman Gill (110 runs) scored a maiden Test century and veteran Cheteshwar Pujara (102 not out) scored a 19th century as India set Bangladesh a target of 513 to win at stumps on the third day of the first cricket Test here on Friday. Till scored 42 runs without losing a wicket. Bangladesh were bowled out for 150 in 55.5 overs in their first innings early in the morning, courtesy a career-best 5/40 from Kuldeep Yadav. Indian captain KL Rahul, however, decided not to follow on despite a 254-run lead. Najmul Hussain Shanto 25 and Zakir Hussain were present at the crease after scoring 17 runs till stumps.
