Starc said still not 100 percent fit but ready to play in third test

Senior Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc is still not 100 per cent recovered from injury but is ready to make an impact in the third Test against India starting here on Wednesday. With regular skipper Pat Cummins returning home to attend to his ailing mother, Australia will look to Starc to provide early success and support the spinners. Indian pacers have already impressed in the series with Mohammed Shami being the most impressive fast bowler.

“I’m feeling good,” Starc said ahead of Australia’s first practice session here. Will be a little uncomfortable for some time. I don’t think it’s going to be 100 per cent for a while but it’s good enough. The ball is coming out well and I’m bowling with all my heart. It is not the first Test that I will play even though it is a bit uncomfortable. If I had played only when I was 100 per cent fit, I would have played only five to 10 Tests. ,

Like the Indian fast bowlers, Starc too wants to contribute for his team. He bowled an hour to Cameron Green in the nets. The left-arm fast bowler said, “Yes, it has been challenging for the Australian fast bowlers. Of course we have seen that the spinners have played a big role but the Indian fast bowlers have still played a special role with the new ball. And if the ball reverses, they target the stumps. There is no doubt that once again the role of spin will be big but to get 20 wickets, I will have to play a key role with the spinners.

In the third Test, Starc and Green will be Australia’s options in fast bowling. In Delhi, the visiting team went in with the only pace bowling option in the form of Cummins while the spin department was manned by three spinners. The 33-year-old Starc, who has played 75 Tests for Australia, expressed hope that he would benefit from playing in sub-continental conditions. He is also feeling good about his body.

He said, “There is nothing to worry about. Due to injury, I took a break of eight to 10 days. Since then I have been bowling. There is no concern about workload or body. “Starc said,” I do not know what has benefited me here in the past. I haven’t played much cricket here. I think the experience of playing in Pakistan and Sri Lanka recently will help.
