Best performance of Indian para shooters in World Championship, won five medals

India produced its best-ever performance at the World Para Shooting Championships, winning five medals, including three gold, in Al Ain, UAE. Thanks to this performance, the Indian team finished fifth. This is India’s best performance after three bronze medals at the Sydney World Championships 2019. South Korea is on top with 20 medals. The host UAE team is in eighth place with four medals including two gold. India won all the three golds in the team championships. Rahul won the only individual medal as a bronze medal in the P3 Mixed 25 Mixed Pistol SH1 Finals.

Jakhar was also part of the team that won the gold medal in the P3 team event. The team also included Paralympic medalists Singhraj and Nihal Singh. Jakhar later teamed up with Rubina Francis and Deepender Singh to win the gold medal in the P5 Mixed 10m Air Pistol Standard SH1. In the P1 Men’s 10m Air Pistol SH1, Singhraj and Nihal teamed up with Paralympic champion Manish Narwal to win the gold medal, beating Korea and Turkey. Sinhraj, however, put up a disappointing performance in the individual finals, finishing fourth.

He was leading for most of the time but shot seven in the final with six shots to spare. Singhraj teamed up with Narwal and Deepender to win the silver medal in the P4 Mixed 50m Pistol SH1. Shooting with a new rifle and a new wheelchair, Paralympic star Avni Lekhra finished fifth and sixth respectively in the R8 Women’s 50m Three Positions SH1 and R2 Women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 finals.
