Under his leadership, sports culture has developed in India, sports infrastructure has improved and efforts are being made to take players from the field to the podium. He said, “Various centers of excellence have been created under the Khelo India project. Various sports scientists have also been placed in these centers along with support staff. “Thakur said,” After becoming the sports minister, I abolished some administrative posts so that more and more coaches could be appointed. We appointed more than 450 coaches in nine months.
