Fruhvirtova and top Indian players to participate in ITF Women’s Open

15-year-old Brenda Fruhvirtova, the youngest top-250 player to make it to the main draw of the Australia Open, will be the center of attention along with local favorites Ankita Raina and Karman Kaur Thandi at the ITF Women’s Open tennis tournament, starting here on March 6. Fruhvirtova became the fifth-youngest qualifier in Australian Open history.

The player from Czech Republic is the younger sister of world number 54 player Linda. World No. 241 Ankita and world No. 267 Karman will spearhead the Indian challenge in the tournament to be held at the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Stadium (KSLTA). World No. 30 Misaki Doi of Japan, Amandine Hesse of France and Valentini Grematikopoulou of Greece are the other international players in the tournament. The qualifying matches will be played on March 5 and 6, while the main draw matches will begin on March 7.
