Ultimate Table Tennis: Archana upsets Suthasini, Puneri Paltan registers season’s first win
Pune. World number 159 Archana Kamath defeated world number 39 Suthasini Sawetabut of Goa Challengers in a thrilling encounter as Puneri Paltan Table Tennis registered their first win in the fourth season of Ultimate Table Tennis here on Monday. Puneri Paltan defeated Goa Challengers 8-7 in this match. Karnataka’s Archana ensured Pune’s victory by winning the first two games 11-6, 11-8 when both the teams were tied at 6-6. She lost the third game 6-11.

In the first match (men’s singles), Harmeet defeated Manush Shah 11-10, 11-9, 11-10 to give Goa Challengers a 3-0 lead. In the second match (women’s singles), Reeth Tennyson beat Hana Matelova 2-1 (11-3, 10-11, 3-11) to extend Goa Challengers’ lead to 5-1. The mixed singles pair of Manush and Hana won the third match 3-0 as Pune came back to make it 4-5. World number 23 Umar Assar won the men’s singles match 2-1 to make it 6-6. He defeated K Alvaro Robles 10-11, 11-5, 11-9.
