A large number of youth in Odisha, engrossed in Hockey World Cup craze, covered a distance of 300 km from Rourkela to Bhubaneswar to thank Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for organizing the event in Sundergarh district. Rourkela is one of the two venues for the 2023 Men’s Hockey World Cup. Twenty matches will be played here at the newly constructed Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium.

Welcoming the youth of Sundergarh district, Patnaik appreciated their efforts to popularize and promote hockey and sought cooperation from all for the success of this international event at Rourkela, according to an official release issued here. The youth involved in the cycle rally are happy that for the first time the people of the tribal-dominated Sundargarh district will host an international event on their soil. The world’s largest hockey stadium has been completed in Rourkela, where the inaugural match between India and Spain will be played on January 13.
