Tendulkar, Dhoni and Sehwag’s CVs received from ‘spam email’ for the post of national selector

When the officials of the BCCI (Indian Cricket Board) opened the ‘mail box’ to check the ‘bio data’ of the prospective national selection committee candidates, they were surprised to find the names of Sachin Tendulkar, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Virender Sehwag applied. And that was not enough that Pakistani captain Inzamam-ul-Haq had also presented his candidature for the post. It was just that all these ‘bio data’ were done by some fraudsters with ‘spam email ids’ who intended to have some fun with BCCI.

The BCCI has received over 600 e-mail applications for the five-member selection panel and some of these have been made from ‘fake IDs’ in the names of Tendulkar, Dhoni, Sehwag and Inzamam. Talking seriously, the Cricket Advisory Committee will shortlist 10 names for these posts. A BCCI source told PTI, “Around 600 applications have been received by us and some were received from ‘fake IDs’ which were in the names of Dhoni, Sehwag and Tendulkar. They are wasting the time of BCCI by doing this. ,

“The CAC will shortlist 10 candidates and then select the final five. The process will end soon. The BCCI had last month sacked the Chetan Sharma-led selection panel following the team’s semi-final exit from the T20 World Cup. But till the candidates are not selected to replace him, this panel will continue to function.
