Tendulkar felicitates Women’s Under-19 World Cup winning cricket team

Former batting great Sachin Tendulkar felicitated the Indian cricket team that won the Under-19 Women’s ICC T20 World Cup for the first time in South Africa, saying the achievement will encourage many more girls to take up the sport and make their dreams come true. Tendulkar said at the felicitation ceremony organized on the sidelines of the third T20 International match played between India and New Zealand, “I would like to congratulate you on your wonderful achievement. The whole country will celebrate (the victory) in the years to come.”

,The Master Blaster said, “My cricketing dream began with the Indian team winning the World Cup in 1983. You have also given birth to many new dreams. This is a wonderful achievement. He said, “By winning this World Cup, you have given the dream of representing the country to the young girls of India.” The biggest thing is about to happen. I believe in equality for men and women. Not only in sports but everywhere both should have equal opportunities.

Tendulkar said the BCCI is trying its best for the development of women’s cricket in the country. “The BCCI and its officials have contributed a lot in enriching women’s cricket. I think it is a sign that we will do really well (in future).” The brief felicitation ceremony was also attended by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, President Roger Binny, Vice President Rajeev Shukla and Treasurer Ashish Shelar. On this occasion, a check of Rs five crore was handed over to the world champion U-19 women’s team, which was announced earlier by the Board Secretary.
