Cricket Update: Azhar Ali to retire from Test cricket after England series
Karachi. Former Pakistan captain and one of the team’s finest batsmen, Azhar Ali has announced his retirement from Test cricket after the third and final match of the ongoing series against England starting here on Saturday. Azhar (37 years) has so far scored 7097 runs in 96 Tests at an average of 42.49. He has 19 hundreds and 35 half-centuries to his credit, with his best score being an unbeaten 302 in a day-night match against the West Indies. He also has eight wickets to his name.

He has also played 53 ODIs and 49 T20 Internationals for Pakistan, scoring 1895 and 985 runs respectively. Azhar said in a statement on Friday, “It has been an honor for me to represent my country at the highest level. It is always difficult to take the decision to retire but after deep thought I feel it is the right time for me to say goodbye to Test cricket.
