ATP Cup: the “Peque” Schwartzman beat Tsitsipás 6-7 (5), 6-3 and 6-3

Argentina beat Greece in the framework of the ATP Cup with a historic victory by Diego Schwartzman against Stéfanos Tsitsipás by 6-7 (5), 6-3 and 6-3.

Argentine tennis player Diego Schwartzman (13th) won a historic victory over Greek Stéfanos Tsitsipás (4th) by 6-7 (5), 6-3 and 6-3 in the ATP Cup, after two hours and 43 minutes of play over the Ken Rosewall Arena track.

A tournament played on fast courts in the city of Sydney, which opened the 2022 tennis season on the way to the first big event of the year: the Australian Open, to be played in Melbourne from January 17 to 30.

This was the third best victory on the circuit for Schwartzman against a top 5, after beating Dominic Thiem, then 3 on the planet, at Roland Garros 2020 and Rafael Nadal, when he was 2 in the world ranking, at the Masters 1000 in Rome of the same season.

The successful day concluded with the victory in doubles of Andrés Molteni-Máximo González against Petros Tsitsipas-Markos Kalovelonis by 6-3, 4-6 and 11-9 for the final 3-0 of the key.
