Indian fast bowlers have the ability to trouble Australia: Taylor

Former New Zealand captain Ross Taylor said on the eve of the World Test Championship (WTC) final to be held at London’s ‘The Oval’ from June 7 to 11 that the Indian pace attack has the potential to trouble Australia’s batsmen. World Test Championship winner Taylor believes that even in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, the Indian pacer can increase Australia’s problems. Taylor told the ICC website, “Whenever you play in England, the conditions and the weather play a big role.”

He said, “Whenever you think about playing between Australia and India in neutral grounds, the role of fast bowlers becomes big. Australia’s fast bowler ‘Duke’ is known for bowling with the ball and has a lot of experience. He, however, said that it would be wrong to underestimate India in this matter. Taylor said, “I would not consider this Indian team weak. They’ve had a lot of success there in the last few years, they’ve got some great fast bowlers.”

Spin bowlers played a key role in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy in India but Taylor expects the pacers from both the teams to be key in the WTC final at ‘The Oval’. Taylor is confident that even without Bumrah, India have enough options to make an impact in English conditions. He said, “It is very difficult to replace someone like Bumrah. He has been excellent in all three formats and is the spearhead of their bowling attack.

He said, “I think there is still a lot of options in this Indian team to trouble Australia. (Mohammed) Shami and his fellow bowlers will prove to be excellent in such conditions. “He said,” Umesh Yadav is also a great bowler with the ‘Duke’ ball. He bowls at a speed of more than 140. Indian bowlers will enjoy bowling with Dukes ball in England.
